Rev Up Your Screens: 'Pegasus' Gallops into the Limelight with Racing Thrills
Introducing Pegasus, a racing-themed urban comedy web series that has just hit the screens of the popular Chinese streaming site Youku. This thrilling spin-off of the movie unfolds the tale of Zhang Chi (portrayed by actor Wang Yanlin), a dominant force on the racing circuit. But fate takes an unexpected turn when Zhang's life hangs in the balance following a harrowing accident during a race. Miraculously, instead of facing death or debilitating injuries, he awakens in the youthful form of 21-year-old Lin Zhendong (brought to life by Hu Xianxu).
Diverging from its 2019 cinematic predecessor directed by Han Han, which primarily delves into the rivalry between Zhang and Lin, the web series delves deeper into the dynamics within Zhang's racing crew. The narrative pivot shifts from Zhang and Sun Yuqiang's solitary struggles to crafting a cohesive ensemble portrait of the entire racing team, underscoring the bonds of camaraderie and friendship.
According to the astute screenwriter Xu Pengpeng, the crux of the story lies not only in the pursuit of dreams but also in the resilience of youth who dare to strive relentlessly without remorse.
Director Shiyiyue, seizing the opportunity to helm the web series, remarked, "We come to realize that triumph in a race hinges not solely on the prowess of the driver and navigator, but also on the unwavering support of the entire team. Success transcends individual achievement; it's the collective victory of a unified team."
